CUSTOM SONGS BY CRISSI
TELL ME ABOUT SOMEONE YOU LOVE, and I'll write and recorD an original song made just for them.
This could be a spouse, a new romance, a parent, son or daughter, or good friend, for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, or just because!
I'll write and produce a professional-quality recording of your love song with voice and guitar. Stylistically, the songs will be soft pop with romantic, jazzy soulfulness.
You'll receive a digital download link through Dropbox, AND you'll be mailed a special CD by mail, so you can present the song to your loved one with style.
This is a special gift that will last for all time - I love that once a song is written, it can never be destroyed. It lives beyond the world of physical objects, and nothing can possibly break it. (Isn't that romantic?)
TAKE A LISTEN TO SOME FINISHED REQUESTS:
This upbeat and lively song is for a couple who met at a wedding: “from the minute she walked in, I couldn’t take my eyes off her.” The song expresses his realization that “there were a million choices that led up to me meeting her, and us dating”, and I was most inspired by their first special moment when a storm had shut down the city but they’d been so focused on each other, they hadn’t noticed. “I always wanted that kind of love, where the world could be chaos outside, but we’d never even notice.”
This mellow lullaby was written for a baby at the request of family friends. They wanted to express how so many people - friends and family - are looking after her.
This song is for a couple who does a lot of traveling - they’ve explored many different cities around the world together. The song talks about their travels, and opens with their first date on a “very cold night, and I wrapped my arms around her to keep her warm while we waited for our ride home.” I was most inspired when he told me this about her: “I feel very lucky to have someone in my life who loves me so unconditionally. She’s part of me and I’d be lost without her.”
How did this all start?
I first began taking requests at Valentine's Day in 2016, and ended up writing and recording 12 songs in 11 days. CBC Windsor was kind enough to run a story on my work, with a video segment that was broadcast on TV across the country. Since then, I've been doing requests all year round, fulfilling 26 of them in 2016. I keep doing it because I love the challenge of writing a song that makes someone feel special, because it keeps my songwriting and recording skills sharp, and because it's a great way for me to keep making a living making music.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
To get started, click on the listing below. You'll be prompted to fill out a form with details about your loved one, the reason for the song, and the feeling you'd like it to have. I'll get to work on it right away! The average turn around time is one month from today's date. If you need it sooner, just let me know and we'll work something out! If this is for an occasion that's a few months away, it's still smart to order in advance, so I can make your song a priority (as I do get busy with gigs and other projects throughout the year).
As soon as your song is complete, I'll email you a link to the song as .mp3 and .wav audio files, along with the lyrics in a print-ready format. I'll also mail you a copy of the song on CD, with the lyrics printed and signed inside the sleeve.
Plus, once you've requested a song from me, I can play it for you live at shows! If you're planning to come see me play, let me know about a week in advance and I'll be glad to play the song for you in person!
You can share your finished song with your friends and family on social media, in videos, however you like with whoever you like, as long as you aren't generating money from the song. I keep the copyright - which means your song might one day make it onto one of my albums!
To place your order, please click the listing above. If the listing above says SOLD OUT, it's because I've hit my limit for the number of commissions I can take on right now. Please check back in a few weeks, follow me on Twitter or Facebook to receive updates when I'm available again, or contact me and we'll work something out!
“I just wanted to email and say thank you so much for the lovely song. I can't express how much it moved me that [my husband] reached out to you to do something so creative and thoughtful and that you hit the nail right on the head with the lyrics. He didn't tell me what it was but just started playing it and I thought "oh that's just my kind of music, I love the guitar picking" then I thought "oh hey, that lyric is kind of like us" and then "oh that one is like us too" then "wait a minute this is ABOUT US!!!" . Then I cried, of course. Thank you once again for the most memorable, unique, heartfelt gift ever. I will treasure it always.”
- S. F. (recipient of song)
“What an amazing song! I was so excited to get it, and you did not disappoint! Thank you sooooo much! You are so talented. This will be the best gift I have ever given someone. I can't wait for them to hear it! The song is so beautiful. I haven't decided on when I'm going to give it, but I was thinking of on their (August) wedding. However, now that I've heard it, I don't know if i can wait! I know they will be thrilled. I wish could be as poetic in thanking you as you were in writing this!”
- L. D. (song for sister's wedding)
“Crissi, I LOVE IT! It is so perfect! Thank you so much. You are so talented and thank you for sharing your talents in this way – you’ve allowed me to give a wonderful gift that I would never have been able to otherwise. I can’t wait until she hears it for the first time.”
- T. M. (song for a spouse)
“Wow.....you nailed it. The song was perfect. I got the attention of everyone gave a small intro and watched the tears flow as you sang. Good tears though! The song left my son speechless. He just looked at me and shook his head.... "How can an old hard ass like me come up with such a sweet idea like that" were his thoughts. I’m a softie, really! Thanks again.”
- P. O. (song for son's wedding)
